Real Brazilian Fun on Carnaval Saturday

Carnaval is the biggest celebration in the world and by far, the biggest celebration of Carnaval is in Brazil. There is nothing like the Brazilian version of Carnaval, billed justifiably as the biggest show on earth.

February 18th is the Saturday of Carnaval.  Carnaval runs from Saturday (February 18)  to Tuesday night (February 21) with Saturday being the prime time for Brazilians to celebrate their favorite holiday.

Calculating Carnaval

So why does carnaval move around so much every year?  Good question!  Hard answer.  Carnaval is 50-47 days before the first Sunday after the first full moon after Vernal Equinox, or in layman’s terms, Ash Wednesday is calculated as 46 days before Easter Sunday, and carnaval falls on the 4 days before Ash Wednesday. Complicated, no?

Ok, like Brazilians, let’s forget about calculating carnaval and have fun at carnaval!

Where the Brazilians in L.A. will Be

So where will the Brazilians in the Los Angeles area be on the biggest Saturday of the year? The place they feel most at home.  And that will be Gauchos Village in Glendale.

Why?  Because Brazilians know that the people putting on the Carnaval Ball at Gauchos Village are known for putting on fun, authentic events that Brazilians love.

And we all know that where there are Brazilians, there is fun, great energy, and non-stop dancing, music and costumes. There will be authentic carnaval music including samba, bahia music, carnaval marches, capoeira, samba drums, a samba parade, costume contest, and of course, beautiful samba dancers.
